Physical fitness comes in a “whole package”, if you wanted to get in shape and strengthen all your inner and outer body parts; you need to consider all these 5 components of physical fitness in your health plan:


1.   Cardiovascular Fitness: The ability of the circulatory system (heart and Lungs) to supply oxygen-rich blood to working muscles during sustained physical activity. It enables you to do more stressful activities without getting tired easily.

 

2.   Body Composition and distribution: Composition and distribution of bodies’ components is a strong indicator of bodies’ health; you need to maintain normal percent of body fat and lean body mass for optimal health, and pay attention to where your fat is mainly localized.

 

3.   Flexibility: It is the ability of a joint to move through its full range of motion; you can increase your flexibility by performing exercises that stretch the muscles.

 

4.   Muscular strength: building muscular strength improves your ability to cope with every day’s physical requirements and improves your bone strength.  To increase your muscular strength, you would perform exercises using heavy weight. 

 

5.   Muscular endurance: The ability of a muscle group to continue muscle movement or to hold a particular position for an extended period of time. Sit up tests are often used to measure muscular endurance.
